VA Benefits

Most of our member schools are "Approved for VA Education Benefits". The Department of Veterans Affairs is the government agency responsible for determining eligibility for VA education benefits and for authorizing payment for the benefits. If you have questions about the available benefits or your eligibility, please contact your school's admissions office.

You may also visit http://www.gibill.va.gov/ to learn more about the available benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

If you wish to pursue a degree using your VA benefits at NAHETS Member School , our admissions department will help you complete all the necessary paperwork to certify enrollment or to make changes in enrollment, to ensure eligibility for VA benefits.

In order for your enrollment to be certified for VA Benefits at NAHETS member school, you must be admitted to your School of choice and registered for classes. In addition, you will need to complete the Veterans Benefits Certification Request form. Your School can assist you with completion of this form. This form must be completed prior to each semester you are enrolled in classes and receiving benefits.

Additional paperwork may be necessary if:

  • This is your first time using your benefits.
  • This is a change of program or change in the place of training.
  • You have been discharged. In this case you will need a copy of your DD-214.
  • You may contact the NAHETS Member School Certifying Official for assistance with this paperwork. Some questions the Certifying Official may ask:
    • Have you applied for admission?
    • Have you received VA education benefits before?
    • What years did you have active military service?
    • Are you still active?
    • Are you an active reservist?
    • Are you a dependent of an eligible parent or spouse?
  • If you are disabled and wish to apply for vocational rehabilitation, contact the Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist assigned to you.
